Education Technology Funding FAQ

Is building an LMS eligible for SR&ED?

A standard LMS using known frameworks is routine engineering. But developing novel features — adaptive learning paths, AI-driven content generation, real-time student modeling — that involve technical uncertainty qualifies.

Can workforce training platforms get funded?

Yes. Ontario's SDF provides $100K-$500K for market-driven workforce solutions. If your platform delivers training outcomes, you may qualify as both a technology company (SR&ED) and a training provider (SDF).

Does gamification R&D qualify?

If it involves genuine technical challenges — engagement modeling, adaptive difficulty systems, or novel interaction mechanics — it can qualify for SR&ED.
