Sector Funding Intelligence — Construction & Infrastructure

Unlocking Capital for Construction & Infrastructure.

Funding for modular construction, building information modeling, and construction technology innovation.

Construction companies investing in modular building systems, BIM technology, sustainable materials, and automation are increasingly eligible for R&D funding. SR&ED covers the experimental development of new construction methods, while the Skills Development Fund (SDF) funds workforce training on new technologies. Provincial programs support equipment modernization.

Construction & Infrastructure Funding FAQ

Can construction companies claim SR&ED?

Yes. Developing novel construction methods, engineering new prefabrication systems, or creating innovative structural designs that involve technical uncertainty qualifies. Standard building to code does not.

Is BIM development eligible?

Custom BIM tool development, integration of BIM with IoT sensors, or building digital twin platforms that require solving technical unknowns can qualify for SR&ED.

What training grants are available?

The Skills Development Fund (SDF) offers $100K-$500K for workforce transformation initiatives. Many provinces also have construction-specific apprenticeship incentives. (Note: COJG wound down March 2026.)
